In order to register a Bitcoin fund for accredited investors, SkyBridge Capital filed a Form D with the SEC today.
In 2005, former Trump press secretary Anthony Scaramucci founded SkyBridge Capital, providing hedge fund investments and thought leadership.
To plan for investments in digital currencies, SkyBridge amended its SEC documents in November. SkyBridge Finance, the hedge fund created by former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, today submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission a Regulation D form for a Bitcoin Fund.
A New Crypto-Related Filing for SkyBridge
The New York-based hedge fund, which manages $9.3 billion would provide accredited investors the ability to invest in a’ SkyBridge Bitcoin Fund L.P.’ SkyBridge would not reveal further details regarding the fund and at the time of publishing.
The filing stated:
“Investment Funds may invest in digital assets without restriction as to market capitalization or technological features or attributes (including lesser-known or novel digital assets known as ‘altcoins’) and may invest in initial coin offerings, which have historically been subject to fraud”
This may indicate that the fund would not only look at Bitcoin, but other assets of the cryptocurrency industry at large.
In November, the investment firm modified SEC documentation to allow the business to own positions in digital properties. A large range of investment goals, including ‘altcoins’ and initial coin offerings, can be seen in the revised documents.
In mid-November, without directly referencing bitcoin, SkyBridge gave two of its funds permission to “seek exposure to digital assets.”
Since then, fund founder Anthony Scaramucci, who became a public figure to the world through his 11-day stint as President Donald Trump’s White House Communications Director, has further dabbled in Bitcoin rhetoric through talks with Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy.
In 2005, Scaramucci formed SkyBridge. Skybridge also provides real estate investment REIT options in addition to hedge fund offerings and has held the annual SkyBridge Alternatives (SALT) Conference since 2009.
SkyBridge follows institutional Bitcoin holders including Grayscale and 3iQ in its filing. SkyBridge has shown confidence in Bitcoin as one of the conventional venture companies. MicroStrategy, which today concluded a transaction worth over $1 billion in Bitcoin assets this year, is the most influential illustration.
What is SkyBridge Capital?
Scaramucci founded SkyBridge Capital, a global alternative investment group, in 2005. Scaramucci is the chairman of the 2009 SkyBridge Alternatives Meeting, or SALT Conference.
SALT hosts the Las Vegas annual signature festival and a Fall/Winter international event. In Singapore, Tokyo and, most recently, Abu Dhabi, SALT has held wide conferences.
Scaramucci was given the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year New York Award in the Financial Services division in 2011 and ranked # 85 in Worth’s “Power 100: The 100 Most Powerful People in Global Finance” magazine in 2016.
SkyBridge acquired the rights to Wall Street Week in May 2014, a financial TV news show formerly hosted on PBS by Louis Rukeyser. The program was presented by Scaramucci. In 2016, broadcast rights were moved over to Fox Broadcasting Corporation.
