The Pudgy Penguins Ethereum-based NFT project is currently blowing up, reaching nearly 4 ETH in price floor as of writing. One notable purchase is that of Dimitry Buterin, the father of Vitalik Buterin.
Over the past 24 hours alone, more than $3 million in volume has been traded in Pudgy Penguin NFTs on Opensea, the secondary marketplace for NFTs on Ethereum.

Penguins Rush to Mountaintop of NFTs
Amongst the luminaries and fans of the crypto business are the original CryptoPunks as well as the newest avatars from the Bored Ape Yacht Club. And recently, Pudgy Penguins are often seen in the profile pictures of many crypto enthusiasts.
Pudgy Penguins does not do much that is considered unusual for NFT sets based on Ethereum. There are 8,888 of them in all, each of which depicts a distinct cartoonish procedurally generated penguin. Some wear caps or spectacles; a t-shirt or scarf; mohawk or bowl cut. You might discern devil horns or a fish on his head.
But they’re selling, just like CryptoPunks and BAYC before it, like hotcakes. The initial batch sold out fast and the NFTs were all minted approximately 3 weeks ago, however during the last few days they surged throughout Twitter.
When Reddit co-founder and reputable investor Alexis Ohanian posted his Pudgy Penguin on Twitter, the collecting frenzy turned up a notch.
